A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Build on a Slope

Hillside lots have a few extra steps that flat lots don't — and knowing about them up front makes the whole process smoother. Most jurisdictions require a geotechnical report before permitting on a sloped site. Mountain areas often have additional engineering requirements for snow loads, wind zones, and soil conditions. A local engineer who knows your site is the single most valuable person you can bring in early.
