We are a small company of creative and dedicated home designers based in beautiful Colorado. With our founding company – custom design firm LGA Studios – we have over 40 years of home design experience, and we bring that knowledge and client-first mentality to every plan we create.

Custom homes have always been and will continue to be a passion for principal designer and founding member Larry Gilland and LGA Studios. However, fully custom design is not in everyone’s budget, nor does every homeowner have a need for it. But the need for a well-designed home is universal. 

Thoughtful design can mean the difference between retaining your independence as you age and having to move somewhere with more accessibility. It can allow you the flexibility to work from home when you need or choose to, or to care for aging parents. Home is where we relax, where we make memories, where we entertain, where we can just be ourselves. It should give you peace and energy, and allow you to live the life you were meant to live. 

The “Rocky Mountain” in our company name is more than just our geographical location in the foothills of Colorado, but an embodiment of a passionate lifestyle. At Rocky Mountain Plan Company, we’re known for our open floor plans and our thoughtful approach to flow and proportions that make our homes feel comfortable and harmonious to live in. We have many house plans suited for sites with views, as well as homes that offer aging-in-place considerations, such as keeping the primary suite on the main level. 

One thing you’ll notice when perusing our collection is that we have a breadth of plans that feature walkout or daylight lower levels. This is a somewhat unique offering in the online home plan space and is based on our 40+ years of experience designing for hillside properties in the Rocky Mountains. If you’ve purchased a site with some slope to it and you’re looking to maximize indoor and outdoor living space, views, and lifestyle, you’ve come to the right place! 

We are committed to staying up-to-date with the latest architectural trends, and we also offer many timeless styles, including Craftsman, Tuscan, Spanish Colonial, and French Country. A large portion of our collection represents a refined mountain vernacular, including Traditional Lodge homes with log timbers and trusses and stunning Modern Lodges as well. We have a particular fondness for the Mountain Modern style and Contemporary homes, and we also love designing homes in the Modern Farmhouse, Modern Prairie, and Modern Cottage styles.
