This grand mountain lodge impresses with its soaring vaulted ceilings and timber trusses and invites you to gather by the impressive great room fireplace. The wide deck shows off rear site views and features a double-sided outdoor fireplace that can be enjoyed during  a quiet evening under the stars in the spa, or during a barbecue with friends and family around the grill.

There’s plenty of space to entertain indoors as well. An open floor plan connects the great room, dining room, and gourmet kitchen, and a powder room is perfect for guests. While the kitchen features plenty of space for high-end appliances and meal prep, a generously sized working pantry can serve as a messy kitchen or pocket office, keeping your home tidy for company.

The main level primary suite is a fabulous retreat, with a corner fireplace, deck access, spacious closet, and spa-like bath. A second bedroom on the main level includes an en suite bath and window seat. The main level study is perfect for working from home and includes built-in bookshelves, a large closet, and a box beam ceiling. The home office is also located just off the foyer, allowing you to invite clients over with ease.

The four-car garage boasts plenty of space for storage, as well as an attached shop for hobbies. Above the garage sits a bonus studio space that can be outfitted as an apartment, a craft room, a home gym, a game room, or a writing retreat.

Blizzard Mountain is a fantastic fit for a wide hillside site, and includes the option to expand with the designed walkout lower level. The lower level includes two additional bedrooms and two additional bathrooms as well as a rec room with a fireplace surrounded by built-in bookshelves. There’s space for a pool table and an ample bar, making this home the place you want to be for game days and movie nights. And if you really want to take your movie screenings to the next level, there’s plenty of square footage to finish out a media room.

QUESTIONS ABOUT BLIZZARD MOUNTAIN:

What's included in my plan purchase?

Every Rocky Mountain Plan Company plan includes a complete digital plan set: floor plans, exterior elevations, cross-sections, roof ridge plan, foundation layout, electrical plan, and more. You'll choose between PDF or CAD file formats at checkout, and every plan includes a single-use build license unless you add an unlimited building license. See exactly what's in every plan set →

Are these plans stamped by an engineer?

Our plans don't come pre-stamped, and that's standard across the pre-drawn plan industry, not a gap in the design. Most jurisdictions require a licensed local engineer to review the plans for your specific site conditions (snow load, wind zone, seismic zone, soil) and apply their stamp before issuing a building permit. Mountain and hillside lots especially tend to trigger this. If you'd like a referral to a trusted engineering firm, just ask. How engineering and permitting work →

What's not included in my plan set?

Your plan set is the complete architectural design. A few things are handled locally rather than by us, by design: structural engineering and calculations, your site or plot plan, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC drawings, and energy calculations. These depend on your lot, your climate, and your local code, so your builder, engineer, and subcontractors add them as part of every residential build. None of this is a gap in the plans; it's the normal division of labor in construction. What's included in every plan set →

Can I preview the plan before buying?

We offer Bid Sets for $500. A Bid Set includes the floor plans and elevation views, labeled "Not For Construction," and is ideal for getting an initial cost estimate from a builder before committing to the full plan. If you move forward, the $500 applies as credit toward your full plan purchase. Contact us to request a Bid Set →

Which foundation type is right for my lot?

Different lots call for different foundations. Here's the quick version:

Slab — Best for flat lots, often in warmer climates. Simple, cost-effective, and low-maintenance, with the main level built directly on grade.

Crawl Space — A good fit for flat or gently graded lots where you want the floor raised off the ground, with room underneath for access to plumbing and mechanical runs.

Daylight Basement — Ideal for gently to moderately sloped lots. The lower level is set into the grade but still gets windows and natural light on the downhill side, turning what would be a dark basement into real living space.

Walkout Basement — Made for sloped and hillside lots. The lower level opens directly to grade on the downhill side, with full doors and windows and direct outdoor access, so it lives like a true part of the home rather than a basement.

The foundations available for a given plan are shown in the options above. If you need a foundation type that isn't listed for the plan you want, reach out and we'll let you know what's possible. Alternate or changed foundations are handled as a modification and add to your timeline.

Can I modify this plan?

Yes, and it's completely expected. Most buyers change at least something. We'd recommend starting with a local drafter, designer, or engineer who knows your area's codes and site conditions. For plan-level changes, we can also point you in the right direction. Minor changes are often handled on-site by your builder. See how modifications work →

PDF or CAD: Which do I need?

PDF works for most builds. Those are your construction documents, ready to print and share. If you're planning significant modifications, or your engineer or contractor prefers to work directly in the files, the CAD add-on (+$500) is worth it. Not sure? Start with PDF, you can always come back and add CAD later. Full comparison: PDF vs. CAD →

Can I flip the plan? (Right-Reading Reverse)

Yes. A right-reading reverse (+$250) mirrors the entire plan, all floors, foundation, roof plan, and elevations, while keeping every dimension, label, and note fully readable rather than backwards. It's the clean way to flip a layout to suit your lot or your view. How right-reading reverse works →

What does the build license allow?

Your purchase includes a Single-Structure License: the right to build this plan once, on one lot. You can print as many copies as you need for your build team and share them with your builder, engineer, and local municipality for that one project. Planning to build it more than once? An Unlimited Build License (+$500) is available at checkout or any time after, always the same price. Plain-English license overview →

How long until I get my plans?

Standard digital delivery is 1–2 business days after your signed license, Monday through Friday. (Weekend orders begin processing Monday.) Add-ons like a right-reading reverse or an alternate foundation add 3–4 business days. Files are delivered by email once your license is signed. More on how it works →
